When I woke up this morning, I was able to feed her and bath her all on my own.

I talked to her while I was pouring the bath about things that I thought would be real to her.

She was so bright, laughing and smiling and the most alert she's been since birth.  Makes me love her even more. For every thing that I am not quite sure if I'm doing right - this special time with her let me know that there are lots of things that I am doing very right.  I knew she was communicating to me that she knew I was her mummy.  And for the last 3 weeks of no sleep and so on, this last part made it all worthwhile and then some.

My milk had not fully come in yet and my 7 day old baby girl was starving.

To supplement my milk, the hospital has put us on a traditional baby formula.  This made her constipated and upset from painful wind and vomiting after each feed.

We decided to make up the barley formula and after her first feed with it she only did 1 tiny burp, no vomit and slept very soundly.  She looks very content and calmer today.

I gave my 5 day old baby girl the cutest little Nerve Assist after her bath when she had really bad wind and couldn't seem to stop crying.  It really helped to soothe her and she slept for 5 hours straight that night.  It's fascinating to think what kind of little bubby cognition she had.
